Reflections

Not understanding what Web 2.0 is I am now able to talk a little more intelligent about the Web 2.0 classroom. After the initial class, I feel more comfortable understanding what a Web 2.0 classroom is. A Web 2.0 classroom looks like a class that is filled with various pieces of technological equipment to support the web based concept. Computers would be available for every student to have access to assignments, resource materials, and other web applications. Cameras and video equipment would be present in the class to support the students in creating educational videos, and aiding in the production of informational projects on the web. More important, the classroom must have an IWB to instruct the students in the use of the technology, and also to review their work and that of others. In doing so, the students are able to constructively critique the work of their peers, and help enhance everyone’s' knowledge and use of technology. A Web 2.0 class, in my opinion, should look like a place where everyone understands and sees that technology is the primary vehicle for learning in the class.
Unlike the look of the Web 2.0 class, to create a technology-rich constructivist classroom in totally different. To create this kind of learning environment, the teacher must properly instruct the students in the correct use of technology in order to be effective. The teacher must ensure that the student knows how to appropriately apply technology for various educational uses, but also when to use it. It is not enough to know that the web is a place to create and acquire information, but how to access the information is key. To create a technology-rich constructivist classroom, students must be able to talk intelligently about how to use technology, and must be able to apply this knowledge in a smart manner.
I know that my interpretation of the Web 2.0 classroom my not be spot on, so please feel free to share your ideas and comments on what a Web 2.0 classroom should look like.
